When Should You Remodel Your Kitchen?

Our remodeling team notices that homeowners decide it’s time for a kitchen renovation when they feel overwhelmed by one or more of the following problems:

  • There’s not enough storage for your essentials. You’ve already thrown out your unused cookware, but whenever you open a cabinet door, a pot or tool clatters out.

  • Your kitchen appliances and fixtures are reaching the end of their service life. The coils in your refrigerator get too warm, your microwave makes unusually loud noises, or dishes never come out of your dishwasher hot.

  • You’re constantly bumping elbows and running out of meal prep space. Multiple family members have to move out of the way just so you can carry a pot from the stove to the sink.

  • Your kitchen cabinets are outdated, dingy, or damaged. Cabinets take up a large part of the surface area in any kitchen (second only to the flooring), so their condition can affect the mood and feel of your kitchen.

  • The countertops are hard to clean. Stains on laminate countertops get increasingly difficult to scrub off.

  • The flooring is worn or warped. Flooring, cabinets, countertops—those are the first things anyone will notice when walking into your kitchen, so they’ll make a difference in a visitor’s first impression of your home.

Preparing for a Kitchen Remodel

The kitchen remodeling process can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months, depending on what changes you decide to make. Here are a few tips from our professional remodelers to help you prepare to live without a kitchen for a while:

  1. Make a meal plan. Collect easy-to-make recipes, frozen dishes you can warm up when you need to, or meals that would taste great after cooked in a countertop appliance (like a microwave, toaster, slow cooker or pressure cooker, electric skillet, etc.). Carefully plan out each meal so that you won’t have to eat out more than you’d like.

  2. Create a temporary kitchen. Find an area of your home near a water source and set up your old refrigerator and countertop appliances. Don’t forget the cooking and eating utensils and dishes your family will need.

  3. Pack up your existing kitchen. Label all of your boxes as you pack. Secure wall-mounted mirrors and collectibles near the kitchen to ensure they won’t fall and break during the demolition phase.

How Does the Kitchen Cabinet Refinishing Process Work?

Our kitchen remodeling process offers property owners a hassle-free experience as we guide you through each step:

On-Site Estimate & Planning:

Our remodelers will visit your home, listen to the vision you have for your new kitchen, and discuss what kind of elements you want to see in the remodel that will fit your style and aesthetic.

Budgeting & Finalizing:

We’ll look at a wide range of eye-catching materials and hardware, charming cabinet and wall colors, energy-efficient appliances that are also tax-deductible, and more. You’ll have plenty of cost-effective options to choose from so you can make informed budgeting decisions.

Demo, Construction & Installation:

Our team of remodelers will place tarps and barriers to protect your home. Then, we’ll carefully remove the elements of your kitchen that will be replaced during the remodel.

Following the plan we agreed on, we’ll construct your new kitchen with all the materials and elements you’ve chosen: custom flooring, cabinets, countertops, fixtures and hardware, appliance installations, and more.

Cleanup & Walkthrough:

We’ll remove any hints that there was ever a construction team on-site by sweeping the floors, clearing surfaces, and dusting vents and fixtures. Then, we’ll offer you a tour of your new kitchen!
